Last year’s ECFMG’s alternative pathways really threw a wrench into the residency application process for many IMGs & FMGs that didn’t get to sit the Step 2CS (clinical skills) exam before it got cancelled in May 2020. This year the USMLE organization made headlines again by deciding to CANCEL Step 2CS forever, ever ever… So what does this mean? It means last year’s alternative ECFMG certification pathways for the 2021 match are here to stay till further notice, or at least till the next 2022 medical residency match.
I decided to put together a loaded video discussing currently EVERYTHING you need to know for 2022 US Residency Match as an IMG/FMG with regards to the ECFMG Certification Alternative Pathways. I additionally talk about what the application procedure will probably look like for the upcoming residency match cycle and changes between last year’s ECFMG’s alternative pathways vs. this year’s ECFMG’s certification pathways.
