I used to go to the Dominican Republic a LOT. In between contracts teaching English abroad and on vacation, you could often find me at Cabarete or Samana or out on the water. I’d like to believe that what happened to me in Santo Domingo was a fluke. I’ve spent months of my life on the island and still love the place and will be back there again before long, but I can’t in good conscience invest there and this is why. I prefer to keep my money in places where I know I have rights.
