
Dominican citizenship has NOT been retroactively stripped. It is false that everyone born in the Dominican Republic is automatically a citizen. The newspapers misstate Dominican law. Since 1929, one parent must be either a legal resident or a citizen for a child to be born with Dominican citizenship. The Constitutional Tribunal’s decision did NOT change existing Dominican law.
